GROUNDWORKS

GRIFFITH PARK, LOS ANGELES, CA
Groundworks reimagines the LADWP Headworks reservoir site north of Griffith Park as an elevated public landscape and research facility that makes visible the hidden infrastructure of Los Angeles’s water system. The project harnesses the remediation capacity of soil ecology to actively filter and revitalize water flowing from the LA River, positioning the building itself as both instrument and exhibit. A hybrid of public park, civic learning environment, and working water treatment facility, Groundworks proposes that infrastructure need not be concealed but can instead become a site of ecological education, community engagement, and environmental resilience.
