ELIAVA BAZAAR
TBILISI, GEORGIA
To elevate the Eliava Bazaar into a more dynamic and community-driven
space, we propose a redesign that reimagines the market’s structure
through a series of interconnected courtyards and open marketplaces.
By shifting from a dense, enclosed layout to a series of open-air,
interconnected zones, we can create a more inviting environment
that fosters interaction, connection, and a sense of belonging. The
courtyards will serve as hubs for local vendors, providing flexible spaces
for both commercial and social activities, while also offering areas for
relaxation, cultural events, and shared experiences. This redesign will
prioritize pedestrian flow and green spaces, ensuring that the bazaar is
not just a marketplace, but a network of economic and social spaces.
With improved circulation, aesthetic cohesion, and a stronger focus on
human-centered design, Eliava Bazaar can become a model for vibrant,
people-first urban spaces that blend commerce with community.
